Pet battle Tournament

NONE THE WISER – BATTLE PET TOURNAMENT  revive-battle-pets.v7599
The last Sunday this month will see the first of what we hope will be a regular feature on the Guild calendar.

There will be two distinct events: one for the experienced pet battler in a no holds barred level 25 mash fest to see who has the best combination of level 25 rares in the guild.

The second will be for those just starting out and will be restricted to wild pets (pets that you can catch) up to a maximum level of 10 – so any pet that you have to have level 25 pets to obtain such as Xu-Fu, Cub of Xuen will be excluded from the competition.Raid drop Pets (eg Anubisath Idol) tend to in general be stronger, so will be excluded as well, meaning just pets you can catch in the wild will be included. There will be an honour system in play for self-regulation on this point. This means it will be a fair competition for those just starting their journey towards becoming a master tamer.

Both tournaments will run the same format, depending on the number of entries received. What we intend to do is send out party invites to the nominated people, and then based on the order in which people respond they will be put into groups of 3 as per the party number listing making it as random a draw as can reasonably be done.

Each group of 3 will form a round robin tournament: Round 1 will be player 1 v player 2, Match 2 will P1 v P3 and the final round will be P2 v P3.

Please note – we are going to hold the tournament at a venue where a) we can summon and b) 6 or 7 pairs can line up next to each other so all round 1 matches commence at the same time (otherwise it could take forever). Could be some pretty cool photo shots if we have 6 or 8 round 1 matches commencing at the same time lined up side by side.

When we announce round 1 matches to commence, we’ll list them all – you then simply need to challenge each other to a pet duel (right click the player’s portrait and choose pet-battle duel). In the event of a tie, say each player wins 1 battle each, then at the judge’s discretion, as a tie breaker you will each whisper one of rock, paper or scissors to the tournament judge until a winner is determined. (rock crushes scissors, scissors cut paper, paper covers rock). Again, a quick resolution to each round is needed so apologies for the rng involved here.

The idea is to keep doing rounds until we get to 4 finalists (eg. if there are only two teams of 3 in the second round, the top 2 will go through to the finals). The semi-finals and final will be a best of 3.

You will be able to use different pets in each round, in fact to be able to win the tournament against experienced pet battlers it will be strongly advisable to have 3 or 4 pet combinations you like to use to keep your opponents guessing as to how best to counter you. For a quick reference see the following great ready reckoner on the next page straight from the Warcraft pets website (with thanks to Khlammy for creating), showing quickly how best to counter the pet types you are specifically facing.

Prizes: Level 25 Tournament :
Will be a great pet (just working out which of the online pets are cageable in game)
Level 10 Tournament :
Anubisath Idol (a great pet to level with and strong against most trainer teams)

Also, for those who are interested in obtaining hard to find pets will be a great opportunity to do some swaps on your doubled up pets with fellow pet hunters.
Until then, happy farming and levelling.
