Level 100 Hunters Guide

Thanks to Okaruto (Daikyuu) for this guide ~

This guide is for level 100 hunters, it is basically a spec and glyphs you can use to be able to solo most content.
My hunter Daikyuu has been soloing the rare elites in Nagrand for Steamwheedle Rep items, and those elites often have 4+ million health. I can also solo the group Apexis daily in Shattrath for 1000 Apexis crystals.
So how to do it first off, the best and in my opinion only spec for serious solo content is Beast Mastery, it does not have the damage output it once had, but with the talents I will give, it is almost un-killable unless you do something stupid like try to solo a world boss.
So, Beast Mastery is the spec, so what pet to choose, here the choice is simple. The exotic beasts offers a splendid pet for tanking, the Clefthoof. Make sure the pet is set to tenacity, read the comments about the level 100 talent to clarify why.
The Clefthoof has reduced damage aside from the bonuses it will receive from being in tenacity, and offers two wonderful buffs, Multi-strike, which is a Beast Mastery hunter’s best stat, and Versatility which increases damage done, and decreases damage taken. While Versatility is not as highly desired as something like Haste or Mastery, it is still the best bonus stat you will receive from a pet with Multi-strike.
Okay, so we have dealt with the spec, and the pet, now for the meat of the situation, the build.
Level 15: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Chimaera
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Chimaera, because reduced cool down on deterrence and disengage are great for when things go wrong.
Level 30: This is personal preference.
I have never really needed to use any of these spells, and each has their advantages, choose whichever suits your play style.
Level 45: Spirit Bond
This is what helps keep you and your pet alive, this helps you be able to keep up with high damage output using just mend pet.
Level 60: Thrill of the Hunt
Trill of the Hunt is entirely passive and procs enough that I can often fire large amounts of arcane shot or multi-shot before I even need to cobra shot to regain focus.
Level 75: Blink Strikes
Blink strikes is insane for BM because it buffs pets beast cleave damage on multi-shots, this allows your pet to tank groups easier, it also helps you kill groups easier.
Level 90: Barrage
Insane AOE damage for large packs, but single target the damage is almost as high as Glaive Toss, this is a no lose choice.
Level 100: Adaptation
Again, this is the must have, this allows you to place a pet in tenacity mode, gaining all the benefits of a tank pet including Thunder Stomp AOE Taunt, with the addition of having DPS equal to a ferocity pet. This is what makes the build work, also tenacity pets gain extra healing from Mend Pet.
Major Glyphs
Misdirection
This allows you to misdirect to your pet every 8 seconds if you want so you always have misdirect buff, meaning your pet can never lose aggro.
Mending
This increases your mend pet healing, and causes it to trigger every second instead of every 3 seconds, giving a more reactive healing.
Animal Bond
This increases your mend pet by an extra 10%, I also don’t know for certain if this is because of this glyph or not, but I have found using mend pet also causes me to heal myself as well.
Minor Glyphs
Play Dead
This glyph causes your pet to feign death when you do, this allows you to run through a group of mobs, get out of their normal aggro range, feign death and reset them. Be aware if you are fighting an elite solo, and you feign death your pet will also feign death resetting the elite, but with this build if you get into the situation where you need to feign death, then a reset is probably the best thing anyways.
The other 2 minor glyphs are personal preference, mostly they are cosmetic and will not affect your play.
The rest is just learning rotation, such as making sure you are using Beastial Wrath on cool down, using focus fire when you have 5 stacks of frenzy, etc…
I hope any hunters in the guild find this guide useful.
